Academix 2025

Academix was a collaborative project between the saxophone classes of four Belgian academies: Brussels, Schaerbeek, Rixensart and Liège. Over the course of three months, more than 30 saxophonists of various ages and levels worked together to prepare a multicultural musical program, featuring pieces inspired by Africa, Scandinavia and Italy.

This process offered not only a deep musical development, but also a rich human experience: students and teachers shared different pedagogical styles, artistic approaches and creative dynamics, fostering inter-school exchange and the creation of a strong community.

The project culminated in a final concert held in the renowned Studio 1 at Flagey, one of Brussels’ most iconic venues, where participants performed the program as the “Sax On Air” saxophone ensemble.

• Tonka (African-inspired music with improvisation)

• Air Scandinave (music from northern Europe)

• Funiculì Funiculà (traditional Neapolitan song)
